THE ILLUSTRATIONS
Illustrator Alfredo Rios created a piece of artwork – featured on the inside of each pack – that brings to life some of the key cultural elements central to the Day of the Dead festival. These include the Marigold flower, which symbolises a hope of being reunited with loved ones as their aroma is thought to attract the souls who have passed.
The Guitar represents the importance of “Mariachis” music to the celebration. This music provides a way of saying goodbye and accompanies the soul to the afterlife.
Flowers, birds, fish and hares are of cultural significance during the festival as they represent the cycle of life.
